Not everyone really knows the differences between 'cacao' and 'cocoa'. They sound similar, look similar - but have great health differences!
Alyse Co-cliff from An Apple A Day recently shared an article outlining the benefits of cacao and how it's nutritionally much better than its sister cocoa.
Here's the outcome in a nut (or cacao) shell:
- Cacao beans are the unprocessed beans from a cacao tree
- Cacao beans can be processed in 3 ways:
1/ chopped up into edible pieces, being cacao nibs.
2/ cold pressed into raw cacao powder.
3/ roasted at a high temperature to result in cocoa powder.
During the process of roasting the bean into cocoa powder it loses most of its nutritional content - being its high antioxidant count and nutrients such as vitamin C, magnesium, iron and zinc.

Another interesting fact mentioned by Alyse is that mixing dairy with cacao can block some of the important nutrients found in raw cacao.
So we suggest having a nut, brown rice or other dairy alternative milk with our Coffee not Coffee HOT CACAO SUPERBLEND to get the full effect of the nutrients.
Our HOT CACAO SUPERBLEND is made from a combination of organic cacao powder combined with a plethora of superfood ingredients such as cinnamon, goji berry, green tea and mangosteen extracts.
